(tasks adapted from www.geographyalltheway.com)
From the syllabus...you need to be able to explain population trends and patterns in births (crude birth rate), natural increase and mortality (crude death rate, infant and child mortality rates), fertility and life expectancy in contrasting regions of the world.
a. Each group / person will be given a set of data and graph paper and world map.

b. Decide on a form of graphical presentation and produce a graph of the data.

Think about the best way to graphically present changes over time and changes over space

c. Working together discuss the data and identify the main patterns and trends.

  •     Write a short paragraph that describes the patterns and trends that you have identified
  •     Summerise the key points onto a slide/prezi

d. Research different reasons that explain the patterns / trends that you have identified.

  •     Use flipboard to search for articles on your demographic factor...READ them. Pick out the key reasons for:

    a. why things have improved over time (trends)
    b. why there are difference between the two areas chosen (spatial patterns)

 e. use Powerpoint / keynote  / prezi to produce a  3 slide presentation that does the following…

  • define your demographic measure
  • identifies the main patterns / trends
  • summarise the key points that explain these patterns / trends

…in the presentation you can use graphs / data / examples / images etc

…each group will present the group with the information researched and talk about their findings (NOT just read your slides aloud!)

...SHARE your slides / url / notes with all the other members of the class.
